Unable to open Power BI Desktop

App stuck on Splash Screen?

For some unknown reason I've been unable to start Power BI Desktop.

The loading screen shows on start but do not progress beyond that. Searching the net for an answer have not helped.

Only suggestion that seems to have worked for other people is re-installing Windows - that's not an option... Others have tried to use various installation files (Windows Store vs MSI), uninstalling WebView2, etc.... None of which have worked for me

The solution, it seems, is to disable the splash screen by adding the following policy to the registry:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop]

(culture probably not required but I did both at the same time so left it herejust in case)
